Albion have achieved another piece of history after securing European football for the first time, with a 3-1 over Southampton at the Amex.
A first-half brace from striker Evan Ferguson and a second half strike from Pascal Gross secured the Seagulls 18th win of the season and guaranteed they their place in European.
Southampton did make the Amex crowd nervy after Mohamed Elyounoussi flicked in James Word Prowse’s corner, before minutes later Theo Walcott thought he had levelled the game up, only for his goal to be chalked off by VAR for offside.
It is another historic step in what has been an incredible season for Roberto De Zerbi’s men!
The three goals against Southampton also took Albion to 70 goals scored in the Premier League this season.
Ferguson’s brace took his onto 6 goals in the league this season and means he is the highest scoring teenager in the Premier League season, with three more than his closest rival Alejandro Garnacho. The Irishmen’s two goals means there have 19 goals scored by teenagers in the Premier League with the Seagulls trio of Ferguson (6), Julio Enciso (3) and Facundo Buonanotte (1).
Gross’ goal means he is now level with Glenn Murray and Neal Maupay on the list of Albion’s top scorers in Premier League history (26 goals).
