Albion skipper Lewis Dunk is in contention to be picked for England five years since his solitary cap.
Reports have suggested that Dunk is under serious consideration for Gareth Southgate’s squad, for their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia, which is announced on Wednesday.
His only previous cap for England came in November 2018 in their 3-0 win over the USA at Wembley in a friendly.
However, since then the 31-year-old has not been picked despite his impressive displays for his boyhood club.
The centre back has been ever-present for Albion once against this season playing every minute of their 36 Premier League scoring one goal.
Dunk’s stats this season cannot be ignored.
He has the most touches in the Premier League so far this season (3,520) which is over 200 than his closest rival Manchester City’s Rodri (3,277). Dunk has also made the most passes in the top flight (3,208) which is 309 more than Rodri (2,899) in second.
It would cap off what has been a great week for Dunk who led his beloved Brighton to European football for the first time in their history.
