Albion guaranteed that they will be playing Europa League football next season after holding Premier League Champions Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at The Amex.

Phil Foden had given the visitors the lead in the 25th minute after Erling Haaland unselfishly laid the ball into his path.

But just 13 minutes later the Seagulls drew level with a superb strike courtesy of Julio Enciso from 30 yards.

The draw means that Albion move onto 62 points and guarantees they will be playing in the Europa League.

Albion’s draw against City means they have also ended the Champions 12 match winning run.

There were plenty of positives from the draw, with one of the main ones being the performance of some of the younger players particularly Julio Enciso.

The Paraguayan international was superb in the first half with his pace, direct approach and fearlessness given the stature of the opposition. He then capped off a terrific performance with for me Albion’s goal of the season, if not the Premier League goal of the season. It was a perfect strike that many players could only dream of scoring.

Albion’s all-round performance was faultless from the off. They were brave, pressed, unsettled and at points dominated against the best team in the world, Manchester City. That bravery was capped off by how they dealt with Erling Haaland, who is arguably the best striker in World football at this moment. Despite that De Zerbi was happy to leave him against at times just Jan Paul Van Hecke, who was making only his third start in the Premier League.

It was just another brilliant result in what has been a dream season for Roberto De Zerbi’s men, who will now look to sign off their incredible campaign with a win at Aston Villa on Sunday.
