Sunday saw Albion bring down the curtain on their incredible season with a 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa.
But could we have seen Alexis Mac Allister don the blue and white stripes for the last time.
The World Cup winner was in tears following the defeat having to be consoled by skipper Lewis Dunk and manager Roberto De Zerbi, in what appeared to be a farewell gesture to the travelling Albion fans.
Mac Allister, who finished as the Seagulls top scorer with 12 goals in all competitions, has been heavily linked with a move away from the club this summer.
Liverpool, Chelsea and Premier League champions Manchester City have all been linked with the Argentinian international.
De Zerbi was asked about the emotional scenes with Mac Allister following the match.
He said: “Not only Mac Allister but we also have to speak about Caicedo.
“Both have been incredible people, incredible players.
“I will be really sorry if they leave, but they deserve to play at another level.
“We have to find other big players which is difficult because it is difficult to find other players with the same quality, with the same level of people.
“But it is our policy our mentality at Brighton we are not a big big team and we have to be ready to improve, but to sell the best player also.”
Albion will be hoping that securing Europa League will help to convince the 24-year-old to stay.
However, given the emotion shown by Mac Allister after the match it appeared as though it was a farewell to fans.
If Mac Allister were to leave this summer it would be a huge loss, but with the him having signed a new deal this season, the Seagulls would quite rightly command a large sum of money to part with one of their star men.
