Albion have reportedly seen a £30 million bid rejected by Chelsea for defender Levi Colwill.
Sky Sports have reported that an outright bid of £30 million has been rejected for the 20-year-old.
Colwill spent last season on loan at the Seagulls. He had to wait until November for his first start for the club in their 3-1 win over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.
Since then Colwill has established himself as a key figure under Roberto De Zerbi making 17 appearances in the Premier League, picking up two assists and also helping the Seagulls to keep six clean sheets, as they secured European football for the first time in the club’s history.
His form has not gone unnoticed with even England manager Gareth Southgate mentioning how well he has done at Brighton, despising being picked by the U21’s and not the senior side.
Chelsea are reportedly keen to hold onto Colwill, despite already five centre backs in their current squad.
De Zerbi admitted he would love to have Colwill stay on the South Coast next season, but knows the decision is in the hands of Chelsea and Colwill.
He said: “I hope he can play with us also next year but it’s his decision and decision of Chelsea. I don’t know.
“We have to be ready to change some players but of course Levi is a top player for us.”
It will be interesting to see how far Brighton are willing to go secure the services of Colwill, but it will ultimately depends on how much Chelsea value the England-U21 international at?
