It’s been a season which will go down as one of the best in Brighton’s History.

So with the season now over here is the first ever Adam Talks Albion awards.

I have just covered a few categories here in player of the season, young player of the season and goal of the season.

Player of the season- Moises Caicedo

This one was a really tough as there were eight or nine players who could have easily won this award, but I went for Cacicedo for a few reasons.

The first being the impact he has on a game. He dominates the battle in the middle of the park, he is always there to cut out the ball and is keen to get on the ball to help build up the attacks, even if he has a player tightly marking him he will still happily receive the ball.

There is also the fact that he seems to be everywhere during the game to try and help out others, to intercept the ball, to make a tackle or a foul if needs be.

Then there is his adaptability as during the latter part of the season he was asked to play right back and had to face up against the likes of Marcus Rashford and Gabriel Martinelli. However, the Ecuadorian international not surprisingly impressed and made the transition to a playing in a new position look easy.

All these factors mean that when Caicedo has been not been in the side or starting from the bench, that his absent was noticeable. That is because the 21-year-old is a unique player and one that does not come around very often so to lose his attributes means Albion are not as strong in the midfield.

These reasons show why myself and other fans are more worried about Caicedo leaving then they are Mac Allister, because it will leave a huge void to fill and as I mentioned there are very few players who could potentially fill that void.

Young player of the season- Evan Ferguson

Again this one could have gone to a number of players with there being a few others who would have been worthy winners, but I have gone for Ferguson.

During their time in the Premier League Albion have lacked a striker who is going to be a realisable goalscorer, but it appears they could have found one in Ferguson.

The 18-year-old started last season playing for the U23’s in the BPL2 and made an electric start to the campaign scoring five goals and picking up an assist in their first six games of the season.

This form saw the striker being given his Premier League debut on Boxing Day coming on in the 83rd minute in their 3-1 win at Southampton.

Five days later, Ferguson came off the bench in the 61st minute with the Seagulls 3-0 down at home to Arsenal. 16 minutes after coming on the Irishmen scored his first Premier League goal to make it 4-2 and became both Brighton and Ireland’s youngest-ever scorer in the Premier League.

Ferguson went on to make another 21 appearances in all competitions scoring eight goals, including braces in their FA Cup Quarter-Final win over Grimsby and their 3-1 win over Southampton last month which guaranteed European football for the first time in the club’s history.

As well as that Ferguson has already been capped four times by the Republic of Ireland after making his debut in November, coming off the bench in their 2-1 defeat to Norway in an international friendly. Ferguson on his first start for Stephen Kenny’s side in March scored his first senior goal for his country, just 17 minutes into their 3-2 win over Latvia in a friendly.

Myself and many other Albion fans are excited for what Ferguson can achieve in his first full season in the Premier League.

Goal of the season- Julio Enciso

This one was not really up for debate as soon as Enciso scored that equaliser against Manchester City I knew it would win awards and also would be mine and many other Albion fans’ goal of the season.

To be honest I am running out of superlatives to do the strike justice, it was perfection and one that even had City fans behind the goal either applauding or left gobsmacked.

It was one of a couple of fine long-range efforts that Enciso scored last season and if the Paraguayan can continue this form next season he will be a key player for the Seagulls.
