Albion kick-off their pre-season campaign in the early hours of tomorrow morning when they face Chelsea at the Lincoln Field Financial Field in the opening match of the Premier League summer series.

But ahead of their opening pre-season game I have taken a look at three players who will be looking to impress Roberto De Zerbi.

Steven Alzate

Alzate spent last season on loan at Belgian giants, Standard Liege following falling down the pecking order with the Seagulls after making just 13 appearances in all competitions in the 2021/22 season.

The 24-year-old impressed during his loan spell at Liege making 29 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and getting five assists.

Alzate will now be hoping to catch the eye of De Zerbi, especially given the fierce competition he will face for a starting place from Moises Caicedo, Adam Lallana, Pascal Gross, Billy Gilmour plus summer signings Mahmoud Dahoud and James Milner.

Simon Adringa

Adringa like Alzate spent last season out on loan in Belgium. The Ivorian played for Union St Gilloise, the Belgian side Albion chairman Tony Bloom owns.

The 21-year-old made 51 appearances in all competitions scoring 14 goals and getting 12 assists.

Adringa was a key player for Union and caused defenders with his pace and direct approach. He helped Union finish third in the Pro League and saw them reach the Quarter-Final of the Europa League.

The winger will hoping to carry his fine form from last season into pre-season.

Adringa will face plenty of competition for a starting place from Kaoru Mitoma, Solly March, Julio Enciso, Facundo Buonanotte plus summer and club record signing Joao Pedro.

Yasin Ayari

The 19-year old Swedish midfielder found game time hard to come by in the second half of last season, having spent the first half of last season at Swedish side AIK.

Ayari will be hoping to make the most of his first pre-season with the Seagulls after having made just four appearances in all competitions last season under De Zerbi.

Ayari can play as a central midfielder but also in a ten role and even out wide. That versatility will be key given the fierce competition for a place in the middle of the park.

But given the increased number of games Albion will play with the Europa League, Ayari will be hoping to get more game time.
